Let me introduce myself.
"Platform for political and contemporary theater". Theater Is A Must International Theater forum in Alexandria, Egypt is mainly concerned with presenting contemporary political and socio-political theater productions from the MENA region and Europe created in the wake of the Arab Spring, organizing theater workshops, and organizing talks & discussions about cultural policies and the current contemporary theater scene in Europe and the Arab Region. The forum supports new forms of contemporary theater that may be called experimental/alternative as opposed to the classical/commercial aesthetically based productions that are exclusively supported by state theaters and the commercial market. The forum’s 5th edition that is set to be held from the 27th of March till the 4th of April 2018 in Alexandria will focus on continuing to highlight the work of female theater directors from Egypt, the Arab Region and Europe with the theme “Female Theater practitioners and Feminist Narratives”. The forum may be considered the only forum in the Arab Region focusing on political theater as an emerging genre, the performances that make it through the selection process are mainly politically engaging, aesthetically challenging, and/or relatively experimental.

What we offer
The Forum aims to: • Offer a stage where young theater makers can present their work, debate, and network. • Present works with political content that are otherwise frowned upon in state theaters. • Highlight the distinguished accomplishments of women theater makers and performing arts practitioners. • Engage young minds in a discussion about the importance of art in these times of transformation. • Present the Egyptian audience with artistic productions that may be described as experimental and/or alternative as opposed to the classical, aesthetically-based and/or commercial productions that they are used to. • Make theater productions more accessible to a much broader audience base through presenting it in alternative and public spaces as well as theaters, and making it easily affordable (free entry or reduced tickets)
